Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University Jaunpur Press Release, Eighteenth Convocation 2015

 Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University Jaunpur is going to hold its 18^th convocation on Saturday, January 24, 2015, at Sangosthi Bhavan. Honorable, Governor of Uttar Pradesh and Chancellor of the University Sri Ram Naik shall preside over the convocation function.Padmbhushan Dr.V.K.Saraswat, Former Director General (DRDO) and Member NITI Aayog, Govt. of India will be the chief guest on this occasion. The members of University Executive and Academic Council will also grace the ceremony.

The University has completed its 27 years of excellence in the field of higher learning and research. Fifty four students will be awarded Gold Medal for standing first in the order of merit for the academic session 2013-14 of different courses running in the ten faculties including Agriculture, Art, Commerce, Education, Law, Science, Management Studies, Applied Social Sciences and Humanities, Engineering and Technology, and Medicine, and 400 students shall be awarded Ph.D. degree in their respective subjects and 01 D.Sc. degree in Chemistry shall be awarded.

The faculty members of the University are engaged in advance research in different academic areas, several teachers have been awarded advance research grants from different funding agencies including UGC, ICSSR, DST etc. The University has organized national seminars (Emerging trends in Applied Psychology, Gender Discrimination and Sexual Harassment; U.P.History Congress), workshop on Quality oriented higher education and assessment.

The University has embarked in the sports also; students of the University won one Gold medal and five Bronze medals in All India inter-University sports competition under individual events category. University team secured first position in all India inter-University Female Cricket and secured second position in male hockey   tournaments. University team secured First position in East-Zone inter-University female hockey,female Kho-kho and male Kabaddi tournaments. Our student Lalit Upadhaya has been the part of Indian Hockey team for world cup in Netherlands.

University has been the part of All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE).University has initiated the process of uploading awarded Ph.D. thesis on Shodganga.The University has identified several thrust areas for further development such as revision of syllabus, automation of processes, upgradation of laboratories, R&D activities, preparation of annual calendar etc.
